About Leatherworking
- Leatherworking belongs to the group of crafting professions.
- Leatherworkers need leather or scales for their work, which Skinners can skin from almost any animal in World of Warcraft. Threads and dyes, which are also needed for the production, can usually be found at the NPCs around a teacher of the profession.
- In order not to have to buy the leather for your work in the auction house, it is advisable to learn the collectible profession of furriery as a second profession.
- Leatherworkers process animal skins into leather armor or mail armor.
- They can also make drums, which are an alternative to heroism and give the same strengthening effect.
Legion Leatherworking Trainers
Dalaran: Namha Moonwater
- After you learned the profession, pick up the quest
Skin Deep which rewards you with Legion Leatherworker.
Unlock Recipes
Most recipes are unlocked through quests. They are given to you by the NPCs around the teacher. There are 42 of them in total. Some quests take you to dungeons, but you can complete them all within a few hours if you are max level, if you are not you may have to wait, because later quests have level requirements. You should complete every quest before continuing with this guide!
The last questline you can only unlock at level 45 (hope that's still the case). To get these quests you have to complete the storyline in Suramar up to Masquerade abschliessen. To get to Suramar at all you will get a quest from Khadgar in Dalaran. After you have completed
Masquerade, return to your leather teacher and pick up the quest
Demon Flesh ab. At the end of this quest you will receive two rewards: Pattern: Gravenscale Armbands and Pattern: Dreadleather Bindings. The rest of the armor set recipes you can buy from Stalriss Dawnrunner in Suramar when the quest is done. With one of them you will skill from 75-100.
Recipe Ranks
Most Legion recipes have 3 ranks. Higher ranks allow you to craft an item with less material cost. So if you can, use only rank 3 recipes. You can get these from merchants, world quests, through reputation, drops in dungeons, or even through victories in Rated Battlegrounds.
If you move your mouse over the little stars in your spellbook, you will see directly where you can get the next rank of the recipe.
Unlock World Quests
Most rank 3 leveling recipes are obtained from world quests. To do them, you must first complete Uniting the Isles by becoming friendly with each Legion faction. You can get the quest with 110 from Archmage Khadgar. You only need to farm the reputation on one character, your twinks will just get the quest after they reach 110.
Once the world quests are unlocked, you just need to skill your profession to 25 and profession world quests will be added to the others.
Leveling Legion Leatherworking: 1-75
1-75
90 x Warhide Bindings (810 x Stonehide Leather)
Das Rezept ist ab 60 gelb, Skillpunkte sind dann nicht mehr garantiert und es kann sein, dass du das Rezept noch weitere Male herstellen musst und mehr Materialien als angegeben benötigt werden.
The recipe is from 70 green, may be more materials.
Alternatively, you can make Battlebound Grips Battlebound Grips if 1080 Storm Scales will get you cheaper than 810 x Stonehide Leather
When you have completed every Leatherworking quest in Dalaran, you should have rank 2 of all the War Bellows and Battle Oath armor pieces. Now the goal is to get the rank 3 recipes of them.
Rank 3 Recipes:
- Warhide Bindings – Shade of Xavius, Endboss in Dungeon: Dark Heart Thicket.
- Battlebound Grips – Endboss in Dungeon: Halls of Valor.
Alternative Rank 3 Recipes with Storm Scales:
Battlebound Treads – Dargrul, Endboss in Dungeon: Neltharions Lair.
75-100
Now you need a rank 2 and rank 3 pattern from one of the Gravenscale or Dreadleather armor pieces. The two belt recipes are by far the best for this, Rank 3 is easy to get and they are also the cheapest. Blood of Sargeras is bound when you pick it up, so you can't just buy it.
Rank 1 Patterns are sold by Stalriss Dawnrunner in Suramar, but only after you completed the Quests mentioned above.
Rank 2 and Rank 3 from the following belts are sold by Strap Bucklebolt in the Dalaran Sewers for 250 or 500 Sightless Eye. You can farm 750 Eyes in ~ 30 Minutes.
25 x Gravenscale Girdle (300 Stormscale, 50 Blood of Sargeras)
25 x Dreadleather Belt (300 Stonehide Leather, 50 Blood of Sargeras)
Alternative Patterns if you don't want to use Blood of Sargeras:

- 25 x Gravenscale Armbands (2750 Stormscale)
- 25 x Dreadleather Gloves (2875 Stonehide Leather)
- 25 x Gravenscale Grips (2750 Stormscale)
Rank 2 Patterns: Ranid Glowergold – Dalaran.
